Covered in Forgiveness
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Psalm 32:1 (ESV)
God Changes Hearts
In the last three days, we have received a lot of snow. There had been a good start to the snow-cover, but the grass was sporadically poking out. This is no longer the case; two snowstorms and 15 inches later - we are covered with a new landscape.
Thankfully for those of us that need a bit of variety (and warmth) from all this beautiful white, this covering is only temporary. In a few months, something new will emerge.
Jehovah God, in His wisdom, allows our repentant heart to make our new covering permanent. In addition, He grants us the ability to begin our transformation as soon as we honestly acknowledge that we have sinned and need Him.
He is not keeping a list of our wrongs but offers us the opportunity to grow into something new without traces of our old, broken self.
As I enter this new season of life after my Mom's death, God is calling me to examine how I use my time. I have a phrase that has been stuck in my head since early summer, "If the devil can't make you bad, he'll make you busy." Sadly, my good intentions can only go so far. I receive the same 24 hours as everyone else, and I must guard my time, using God’s wisdom to deliberately select how I use this precious resource rather than yielding it to worldly waste.
Where do you want to grow in your life?
My prayer for you today:
Heaven Father, we come before you in Jesus’s Holy Name. We know that you are stronger than any challenge weighing us down.
Each of us is a sinner. We long to experience the perfect world that you once created. We know this starts with changing our hearts to Your Will. Please show us how we can be honest with You (and ourselves). Help us move away from sin, the things that divide us from each other, and the challenges that suck us in.
Teach us to rest in your protection, as You are stronger than all of our challenges. Thank you for calling us to you. What a blessing that when we seek to change, you graciously allow our sins to be covered with your forgiveness and forgotten - you leave our old self in the past.
Please guide us to Your Truth. Transform our hearts; let your wisdom mold them. Thank you that we do not face this world alone. We love you, Father. Amen!
