Let God Work in Your Life

Below is my blessing and prayer for you today. I have added references at the end. Just after, I have added a few encouraging verses.

Many times, in the Bible, God tells us to call on His name (1). Have you ever considered that we serve someone whose name is not God; God is His title of True Authority. He has many names, which reveal His character. But, His most personal and intimate name is Jehovah (Yahweh in Hebrew). When you see LORD (all capital) in the Bible, this is in reference to Jehovah or Yahweh. At one point in church history, they were so afraid of taking God's name in vain that they stopped using His name and instead used LORD.

Early in my Bible studies, I would often pause when reading the command to use God's Holy name to call on Him or to use His name to trust in Him because I felt there was more to His name than just distinguishing Him by a capital G verses a lower case g - God vs. god (as seen when discussing those in myths).

As I researched and found pastors, churches, as well as Bibles that restored Jehovah or Yahweh's name, I felt further excited; what a blessing to have Jehovah's name on us! So, whether this resonates strongly, has been something you have heard before but haven't considered, this is your first time, or sounds like wordplay, know through the qualities of Jehovah's Holy name, we are invited to meet the fullness of His character (2). Jehovah is the True, Living God, who loves us, does not change, keeps His promises, has expectations of us, and wants to have a relationship with us (3).

God told Moses to direct Aaron to use the words in the box below to bless His people with His name. In Numbers 6:27, He specifically says, “So whenever they use my name to bless the Israelites, I will bless them.” There is power in God's name. I remember in school; I had a handful of teachers that I respectfully used their names; they allowed it and encouraged it. As part of their mentoring, they allowed us, the students, to form a friendship with them.

The Israelites were broken and far from perfect, but God wanted to show His love and encourage them to seek His approval (4). Peace from our Living, Loving, True God is one of the many blessings He provides to us. When we love Jehovah God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, we are blessed beyond measure (5).

Dear Heavenly Father, Jehovah,

We are far from perfect, and yet you call us and love us. Please shape our hearts, souls, and minds so we can act with all our strength. Thank you for guiding, loving, and blessing us even amid the broken of life's messes. Please teach us to receive more guidance from Your Holy Spirit.

In Jesus's Holy Name,

Amen

When God's Promise Seems Too Far

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

2 Corinthians 5:21

When You Wonder About God's Love

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
